Sippy Sidhu murder case: Supreme Court issues notice to Kalyani over SLP filed by CBI
The Supreme Court has issued a notice to Kalyani Singh, the prime accused in the 2015 Sippy Sidhu murder case, following a special leave petition (SLP) filed by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against the bail granted to her by the Punjab and Haryana high court.
The matter was taken up by the bench of justice Aniruddha Bose and justice Sudhanshu Dhulia on Monday, and the court gave permission to file SLPs and issued notice to Kalyani.
The matter is now listed for May 12. Earlier on March 13, the bench of justice Sanjiv Khanna and justice MM Sundresh had directed that the SLP be listed before a bench where one of them was not a member.
National-level shooter and lawyer Sukhmanpreet Singh, better known as Sippy Sidhu, was shot dead at a park in Sector 27, Chandigarh, on September 20, 2015. The CBI in its chargesheet has accused Kalyani of killing Sidhu after their relationship turned sour, citing direct evidence against her.

Himachal HC Acting Chief Justice’s daughter Kalyani Singh has been arrested by the CBI in the Sidhu murder case.
Chandigarh: Almost seven years on, the ripples of the saga of a relationship that had turned sour and led to a murder, continue to echo even today. A daughter of Acting Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court, was in a relationship with a handsome hunk, national shooter and budding lawyer Sukhmanpreet Singh Sidhu, famously known as Sippy Sidhu in Chandigarh. Sidhu was the grandson of a former judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court and son of a noted lawyer. Sidhu, too, was in a relationship with the alleged murderer Kalyani Singh. As the story goes, Kalyani proposed to Sippy Sidhu for marriage, which Sippy and his family rejected, claiming that the girl was in a relation with some other people as well. Sippy Sidhu murder case: 6 years on, family awaits justice
Six years after city-based lawyer Sippy Sidhu’s murder, his family still awaits justice. On Tuesday, the mother and brother of the deceased held a press conference, where they requested the investigating agency to hand over the copy of the documents.
The application was moved by the family during the last date of hearing, and the case is now listed for November 18.
“While the investigating agency has filed the untraced report, we want to file a protest petition. The case is now listed on November 18 for protest petition, which is only possible if the investigating agency hands over the copy of all documents,” Sippy Sidhu’s mother Deepinder Kaur Sidhu said.
She said, “The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has given us the copy of an untraced report which has the statement of witnesses, but it has no article on which the agency had relied. The articles are primarily information in the form of discs, seizure memos and CCTV footage which contain material evidence.”
