Turning KWS fortunes around

Dr JUlius Kipng'etich is an alumni of Starehe Boys' Centre and what he learnt there forms the creed around which his life revolves. He spoke to Peter Muiruri.

"This world is full of people who do their duty half-heartedly, grudgingly and poorly. Don’t be like them. Whatever is your duty, do it as fully and perfectly as you possibly can..."

These were Dr Geoffrey Griffins’ words, founding director of Starehe Boys’ Centre, shortly before his death. They were read out during his funeral in 2005.

To Dr Julius Kangogo Kipng’etich, one of Griffins’ former students, the words are not just part of the former school director’s colourful quotes; they form a creed around which his life revolves. A laminated copy of these words prominently adorn his office.
