No, not really; but it leads to a potential "political can of worms" of which members of both organizations are well aware and which are probably best avoided here.

I don't know anything about them, and very little about Bujinkan so my questions are real and not politically motivated. I am just interested.

Do you feel that somehow Genbukan and other lineages that may exist from Takamatsu's other students are somehow illegitimate, or less than Bujinkan? I mean if these others also received full teaching licenses from Mr. Takamatsu, how could they be considered less?

No, I don't think so at all, they're just different from the Bujinkan. And historically, it was not that unusual in Japan for someone to receive menkyo kaiden or equiv

My age will be 68, this year the 4lst year of Showa (1955). Until two or three years ago I had no idea of what my age was. This is simply because I did not want to know, however I do know that I was born in the 23rd year of Showa (1859). I am bewildered by the appearance of my face as it looks now but the reason for this is: I have not looked at myself in the mirror in some thirty years. Even with this bedraggled look I am still what most people would consider an energetic man. If most people were to go for a walk for an hour they would usually cover about four miles – I usually cover that in about half of one hour. I like to walk and do so naturally with my dogs. We walk together everyday.

Bujinkan Dojo

He studied Asian and Western martial arts (judo, karate, and boxing), fine arts,soccer, gymnastics, acting, and dancing. He began studying the martial arts traditions taught by Takamatsu Toshitsugu at the age of 27 (approximately 1958). As his last and only "true" student, Hatsumi Sensei succeeded to Takamatsu Sensei's nine schools of ancient Japanese martial arts in 1972. He founded the Bujinkan Dojo, where he teaches the martial art derived from these traditions called "Budo Taijutsu".

Hatsumi Sensei received a doctorate degree (USA) of Philosophy after he submitted his study entitled "Find that Bushido is to Die". He also received the title of Knight from the German government in May of 1994, confirming his abilities to teach budo extensively. He also starred in many Japanese television action dramas such as "Jiraiya", "Ninja-boy-Fujimaru", and "Ninja Nights". Hatsumi Sensei's list of titles and awards includes:
