After a one-year hiatus, RuPaul’s Drag Race is back in the winner’s circle.

The reality program hosted by the titular drag queen reclaimed the title of Outstanding Reality Competition Program at the 75th Primetime Emmys on Monday night. The show had received the honor four years straight from 2018 to 2021, before surprisingly losing to Lizzo’s Watch Out For The Big Grrrls in 2022.

Accepting the award, RuPaul offered his support for drag queens and drag queen story hour programs, which have been the subject of protests and threats of violence. “If a drag queen wants to read you a story at a library, listen to her, because knowledge is power, and if someone tries to restrict your access to power, they are trying to scare you,” RuPaul said on Monday.
