WHO WE ARE

Ritch started out as a promotion coordinator for A&M Records in Los Angeles in 1980-81.

From 1981-1987, Ritch was the director of West Coast A&R for Arista Records. He signed The Thompson Twins to their US Deal as well as Mara Getz. He worked extensively with the publishing and songwriting communities for material for Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Melissa Manchester, Tanya Tucker, Jennifer Warnes and Jermaine Jackson. He also coordinated music for the “Ghostbusters” and “Perfect” soundtracks.

From 1987-1992, Ritch worked on various independent projects. He produced the award-winning educational video for artists and musicians, “How to Get a Record Deal.” “At the time, it was the only video of its kind examining the frequently misunderstood process from several different perspectives: record company executives, A&R VPs, artist managers, record producers and 16 major artists  including Los Lobos, Mark Knopfler, Phil Collins, Jody Watley, Karla Bonoff, Michael Bolton, Fleetwood Mac, Chick Corea

Formed in 1986, the group soon signed to the major label, Teichiku, under the Baidis subdivision. Sounding similar to the likes of JRock pioneers Boowy, the group found some minor success with the release of their debut album, "Blind", which was released in October of 1988. Although their initial success was lackluster, just a year later, the group became mainstream rock stars, with their second album, 1989's "Stay Free", breaking the Oricon top 30 at number 21. Their success would continue to rise, and the group's third and fourth albums, "Good Times Bad Times" and "Love is Here", both broke the Oricon top 15 (at numbers 6 and 11 respectively). The group's 1991 live album, "God Save the Rock 'n Roll", would prove to be their most successful album in their catalog, reaching number 4. Richard Blackstone, president of Zomba Music Publishing, has been appointed Chairman and CEO of Warner/Chappell Music, Inc. Upon the expiration of his current agreement with Zomba, Blackstone will succeed Les Bider, who recently announced his decision to step down following the appointment of a successor. Blackstone will report to WMG's Chairman and CEO, Edgar Bronfman, Jr.

Charlie Pinder has left his post as MD of Sony/ATV Music Publishing UK after nearly six years. He joined in 1993 as an A&R scout, and in 1999 replaced MD Blair McDonald when he moved over to Columbia Records. Pinder's signings included Sleeper, Catatonia, Travis and more recently Katie Melua and Robert Plant.
