1. Alfred Flatow (1869 - 1942)

With an HPI of 62.47, Alfred Flatow is the most famous Polish Gymnast.  His biography has been translated into 30 different languages on wikipedia.

Alfred Flatow (3 October 1869 – 28 December 1942) was a Jewish German gymnast. He competed at the 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens. He was murdered in the Holocaust.

2. Helena Rakoczy (1921 - 2014)

With an HPI of 56.02, Helena Rakoczy is the 2nd most famous Polish Gymnast.  Her biography has been translated into 21 different languages.

This specific topic has been covered numerous times before, but I wanted to do my own version of it specifically because there are numerous examples of mother/daughter gymnasts whose stories are not widely known. So rest assured that this isn’t going to be the same list you have seen many times before. I broke the following article up into two parts:

So just how common is it for a mother and a daughter to both be an Olympic gymnast? There are only five occasions in women’s artistic gymnastics (WAG) of it happening. There are no instances in Olympic history where a mother and a daughter both have Olympic medals in WAG. But other family relationships such as mother/son, father/son, and father/daughter have bore greater amounts of success.

Marta Pihan-Kulesza (Polish pronunciation:[ˈmarta ˈpixan kuˈlɛʂa]; born 23 July 1987) is a Polish artistic gymnast. She represented her country at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. She is a 12-time Polish all-around champion (2004–2005, 2007–2010, 2012–2014, 2018, 2020, 2024) and a multiple-time World Cup medalist.

Personal life

Marta Pihan was born on 23 July 1987 in Szczecin, Zachodniopomorskie, Poland. She has been married to fellow gymnast Roman Kulesza since 2009.[1] In 2017, she gave birth to her daughter Jagna.[2] In 2022, she gave birth to her son Radlimir.[3]

Career

Pihan-Kulesza became the Polish all-around champion nine times – in 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014. She competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.[4] She also represented her country at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London where she had a chance to be in the top 12 all-around after first three rotations, but eventually finished 19th due to a fall on the
