The career of the actress Sonu Walia spanned from 1988 to the 2005 release of the movie, Suryakant. Partly because she was so tall and beautiful, she was not able to get roles that were deeper and more challenging.

She was the winner of a beauty pageant and won the title of Miss India in 1985. Prior to that, she worked as a successful model.

Life became controversial when she filmed bold scenes in the movie, Akarshan, as she took on the role of Priya. In those days, she caught talk and trouble for her strong scenes of kissing and acting. This all happened in 1988, as she appeared along with Akbar Khan.

She married in 1995 and had a good life with her husband. However, this changed. Soon after she lost her husband in 2009, she lost her memory. It lasted two years and was shocking to her.

    Sonu Walia is an Indian former actress, model and beauty pageant titleholder who won the Femina Miss India Universe 1985.[1][2] Her birth name is Sanjeet Kaur Walia.[3] She is best known for her role in the film Khoon Bhari Maang (1988) for which she won a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress.

    A psychology graduate and a student of journalism, Walia took up modelling and she entered the Femina Miss India contest winning the title and represented India at Miss Universe 1985.

    Personal life

    Walia was married to Surya Pratap Singh,[5] an NRI based in the US who was a hotelier and Indian film producer.[6] He died in 2009.[7]
