On January 26, 2021, Yellen was sworn in as the 78th Secretary of the Treasury of the United States. Yellen served as Chair of the Federal Reserve from 2014 to 2018, Vice Chair from 2010 to 2014, and Chair of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers from 1997 to 1999. She is the first person in American history to have led the White House Council of Economic Advisors, the Federal Reserve, and the Treasury Department. An economist by training, Yellen joined the Berkeley Haas faculty in 1980. For the next 26 years, she taught thousands of MBA and undergraduate students in macroeconomics, economics, and trade.
