He is the senior advisor for CK Hutchison Holdings[7] and CK Asset Holdings, after he retired from the Chairman of the Board in May 2018;[8] through it, he is an investor, developer, and operator of the largest health and beauty retailer in Asia and Europe.[9] In July 2023 Li was the 33rd richest person in the world, with an estimated net wealth of US$37.7 billion.[10] In the March 2024 Forbes list of The Richest People In The World Li Ka-shing was ranked 38th with a net worth of $37.3 billion.[11]

Early Beginnings & Family
Mr. Li was born in 1928 in Chiu Chow, a coastal city in the southeastern part of China. At the age of 12 Mr. Li was forced to quit school and fled to Hong Kong with his family to avoid Japanese invasion in 1940. Not long after, his father suffered from tuberculosis and passed away in Hong Kong. Mr. Li took the responsibility of supporting his family and found a job in a plastics trading company, where he worked tirelessly for 16 hours a day.

Mr Li Ka Shing, a leading Hong Kong merchant and entrepreneur, is well-known not only for his contributions to the economic growth of Hong Kong but also for his beneficence in the field of education.
He is Chairman and Managing Director of Cheung Kong (Holdings) Ltd, Cheung Kong Industrial Co Ltd and Canadian Eastern Finance Ltd. He is also Chairman of the Board of several other important Hong Kong companies, including Hutchison Whampoa Ltd and serves in an advisory capacity on a number of Government and charitable bodies including the Industrial Training Advisory Committee of the Labour Department and the Community Chest of Hong Kong. He is also President of the Junior Police Officers Association.
