Claude Ruiz Picasso, youngest son of Spanish artist, dies aged 76
Claude Ruiz Picasso, the younger son of Spanish artist Pablo Picasso, has died in Switzerland aged 76, his lawyer announced on Thursday.
Claude’s lawyer, Jean-Jacques Neuer, did not give the cause of death.
Claude was a photographer and film director, who also managed his father’s estate from 1989 until July this year, when he handed over responsibility to his younger sister, Paloma.
Claude worked as an assistant to famed photographer Richard Avedon for almost a year, and worked as a photojournalist for Time Life, Vogue and the US magazine Saturday Review. In 2011 he was awarded France’s highest honour, the Legion d’honneur, for his work as an artist and as the court-appointed administrator of his father’s estate.
Picasso had four children. Claude and Paloma were his children with French artist Françoise Gilot, who died in June aged 101. His elder son, Paul, from his marriage to ballet dancer Olga Khokhlova, died in 1975. Maya, his daughter with French model Marie-Therese Walter, died in 2022.

Claude Ruiz Picasso (15 May 1947 – 24 August 2023) was a French photographer, cinematographer, film director, visual artist, graphic designer, businessman, and the third child of the artist Pablo Picasso.
Biography
Picasso was a child of Françoise Gilot and Pablo Picasso[1] and the older brother of Paloma Picasso. By a wish on Gilot's part, he was named after Claude Gillot (1673–1722), a pioneering French Rococo artist and mentor to fellow artist Jean-Antoine Watteau.[2] His name was Claude Gilot until age 12.[3] In 1968 he met Sara Lavner (Schultz), a young woman from Brooklyn. Lavner and Picasso married in 1969 and divorced in 1972.[4] He was a photographer in New York City when his father died. At the time, he had experienced a period of estrangement from his father due to his mother's 1964 memoir Life with Picasso. His father's legacy was important to him, and he established the Picasso Administration[5] to look after copyright and other legal

Claude Ruiz Picasso (1947–2023)
Photographer and filmmaker Claude Picasso, the youngest son of Pablo Picasso, died in Geneva, Switzerland, on August 24 at the age of seventy-six. The news was announced by his lawyer, Jean-Jacques Neuer, who did not reveal a cause of death. Claude’s mother was the French painter Françoise Gilot, who died earlier this year at the age of 101 and was also mother to his younger sister, Paloma Picasso, now the Cubist giant’s only surviving child. Having been cut off by his famous father after Gilot left him—she was by the artist’s admission the only woman ever to do so—Claude as a young man sued to be recognized as his legal heir. He won the suit and went on to serve as administrator of the Spanish legend’s estate, from 1989 until this past July, when he relinquished control to Paloma.
Claude Ruiz Picasso was born May 15, 1947, in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, and named, in accordance with his mother’s wishes, after the pathbreaking French Rococo artist Claude Gillot, a mentor of Watteau. Franç
