Italian by origin but French by adoption, Armando GHIDONI brings together in his music the spirit of Italy and that of France. An eclectic composer, his melodies reveal the sensitivity and tradition of "bel canto". His harmonic writing evokes both French impressionism and the rhythms of jazz, giving his works a unique and very personal character. 

Many of his compositions are nowadays references, and are regularly imposed in the most important national and international competitions. Armando Ghidoni's catalogue brings together some one hundred works - a symphony, an opera, stage music, sacred music, chamber music, performed in prestigious venues all over the world: USA, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Russia, Korea, Carnegie Hall in New York, Opéra Bastille in Paris, "Semana Ghidoni" in Rio de Janeiro.... 

Programmed at the Vichy Minou and Gourmolon Opera, an opera in two acts, has been performed several times in France and abroad, notably in Vienna, Austria, in a German translation.

Composer of Italian origin, Armando Ghidoni brings together in his music the spirits of both Italy and France. In the songs of this eclectic composer we recognize the “Bel Canto” sensitivity and tradition, while his harmonic and rhythmic writing evokes both an impressionism “à la française” and a jazz spirit, features that lend his works a unique and highly personal character.

Armando Ghidoni is intensely active as a composer. His catalogue includes many instrumental scores that are regularly chosen as set prices in leading national and international competitions.
His Jazzy Flute Challenge (in 2014) for flute and piano, Badaluk Concerto (in 2006) for wind quintet and his Adagio for flute and harp (or piano) (in 1996) received an Honorable Mention from the National Flute Association in the USA. And in 2015, his wind quartet “Swinging Counterpoint” received the first award in the category “Chamber Works for Flute and Other Instruments”.
