Short Biography

Mr. Islam is a Learning Designer specializing in designing indigenous Skills-based Curriculum, Skills-Learning Methodologies, Skills-based Faculty Development and Skills-Learning Outcomes & Assessment for the Public Health, Higher Education and corporate sectors. He is also an Adjunct Faculty in the MPH Programme. His BRAC SPH projects include: 1.     Faruq Mahfuz Anam James (born 2 October 1964), known mononymously as James, is a Bangladeshi singer-songwriter, guitarist and composer, also known as a playback singer. He is the lead singer, songwriter and guitarist of the rock band Nagar Baul (previously Feelings). He is often referred by the name "Guru"[2] which means "master" or "teacher".

    James was born and raised in Naogaon, but grew up in Chittagong city. James rose to mainstream fame in the 1970s as the frontman of Feelings, which is one of the "Big Three of Rock", who were responsible for developing and popularizing hard rock music in Bangladesh, along with LRB and Ark. Feelings is considered to be the pioneer of psychedelic rock in Bangladesh.

    James has also led a successful solo career, with hit albums like Ananya (1969), Palabe Kothay (1975), Dukhini Dukkho Korona (1977), Thik Achhe Bondhu (1979). He sang in fou

    James K. Boyce is an author, naturalist, economist, and senior fellow at the Political Economy Research Institute at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he is also Professor Emeritus of Economics.

    Jim grew up in Michigan. He received his B.A. at Yale University and his doctorate from Oxford University.

    He began his professional career as a development economist, after having lived and worked in India and Bangladesh prior to graduate school. As a Fulbright Scholar at the Universidad Nacional in Costa Rica, he helped establish a master’s program in sustainable development and ecological economics for Central America and the Caribbean. He led the Adjustment Toward Peace project for the United Nations Development Program in postwar El Salvador, and received a MacArthur Foundation fellowship for research and writing on the economics of peacebuilding.
